First measurement of the Zμ+μZ\rightarrow \mu^+ \mu^- angular coefficients in the forward region of pppp collisions at s=13\sqrt{s}=13 TeV

No full text
The first study of the angular distribution of μ+μ\mu^+ \mu^- pairs produced in the forward rapidity region via the Drell-Yan reaction ppγ/Z+Xl+l+Xpp \rightarrow \gamma^{*}/Z +X \rightarrow l^+ l^- + X is presented, using data collected with the LHCb detector at a centre-of-mass energy of 13TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.1 fb1\rm{fb}^{-1}. The coefficients of the five leading terms in the angular distribution are determined as a function of the dimuon transverse momentum and rapidity. The results are compared to various theoretical predictions of the ZZ-boson production mechanism and can also be used to probe transverse-momentum-dependent parton distributions within the proton

No full text
A precision measurement of the ZZ boson production cross-section at s=13\sqrt{s} = 13 TeV in the forward region is presented, using pppp collision data collected by the LHCb detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.1 fb1^{-1}. The production cross-section is measured using Zμ+μZ\rightarrow\mu^+\mu^- events within the fiducial region defined as pseudorapidity 2.0202.020 GeV/cc for both muons and dimuon invariant mass 60<Mμμ<12060<M_{\mu\mu}<120 GeV/c2c^2. The integrated cross-section is determined to be \begin{equation*} \sigma(Z\rightarrow\mu^+\mu^-) = 195.3 \pm 0.2 \pm 1.5 \pm 3.9~pb, \end{equation*} where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third is due to the luminosity determination. The measured results are in agreement with theoretical predictions, including a prediction at next-to-next-to-leading order in perturbative quantum chromodynamics and a prediction with resummation

International audienceA measurement of the ratios of the effective decay widths of D0→π-π+ and D0→K-K+ decays over that of D0→K-π+ decays is performed with the LHCb experiment using proton–proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6  fb-1. These observables give access to the charm mixing parameters yCPππ-yCPKπ and yCPKK-yCPKπ, and are measured as yCPππ-yCPKπ=(6.57±0.53±0.16)×10-3, yCPKK-yCPKπ=(7.08±0.30±0.14)×10-3, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The combination of the two measurements is yCP-yCPKπ=(6.96±0.26±0.13)×10-3, which is four times more precise than the previous world average

Measurement of χc1_{c1}(3872) production in proton-proton collisions at s \sqrt{s} = 8 and 13 TeV

No full text
International audienceThe production cross-section of the χc1_{c1}(3872) state relative to the ψ(2S) meson is measured using proton-proton collision data collected with the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of s \sqrt{s} = 8 and 13 TeV, corresponding to integrated luminosities of 2.0 and 5.4 fb1^{−1}, respectively. The two mesons are reconstructed in the J/ψπ+^{+}π^{−} final state. The ratios of the prompt and nonprompt χc1_{c1}(3872) to ψ(2S) production cross-sections are measured as a function of transverse momentum, pT_{T}, and rapidity, y, of the χc1_{c1}(3872) and ψ(2S) states, in the kinematic range 4 < pT_{T}< 20 GeV/c and 2.0 < y < 4.5. The prompt ratio is found to increase with pT_{T}, independently of y. For the prompt component, the double ratio of the χc1_{c1}(3872) and ψ(2S) production cross-sections between 13 and 8 TeV is observed to be consistent with unity, independent of pT_{T} and centre-of-mass energy.[graphic not available: see fulltext

A search for the rare hadronic decay Bs0→pp¯ is performed using proton-proton collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6  fb-1. No evidence of the decay is found and an upper limit on its branching fraction is set at B(Bs0→pp¯)<4.4(5.1)×10-9 at 90% (95%) confidence level; this is currently the world’s best upper limit. The decay mode B0→pp¯ is measured with very large significance, confirming the first observation by the LHCb experiment in 2017. The branching fraction is determined to be B(B0→pp¯)=(1.27±0.15±0.05±0.04)×10-8, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic and the third is due to the external branching fraction of the normalization channel B0→K+π-. The combination of the two LHCb measurements of the B0→pp¯ branching fraction yields B(B0→pp¯)=(1.27±0.13±0.05±0.03)×10-8.A search for the rare hadronic decay Bs0ppˉB_s^0\to p \bar{p} is performed using proton-proton collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6 fb1^{-1}. Measurement of the lifetimes of promptly produced Ωc0 and Ξc0 baryons

No full text
International audienceA measurement of the lifetimes of the Ωc0 and Ξc0 baryons is reported using proton–proton collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of 13TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4fb-1 collected by the LHCb experiment. The Ωc0 and Ξc0 baryons are produced directly from proton interactions and reconstructed in the pK-K-π+ final state. The Ωc0 lifetime is measured to be 276.5±13.4±4.4±0.7fs, and the Ξc0 lifetime is measured to be 148.0±2.3±2.2±0.2fs, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic, and the third due to the uncertainty on the D0 lifetime. These results confirm previous LHCb measurements based on semileptonic beauty-hadron decays, which disagree with earlier results of a four times shorter Ωc0 lifetime, and provide the single most precise measurement of the Ωc0 lifetime

Observation of the suppressed Λb0→DpK- decay with D→K+π- and measurement of its CP asymmetry

No full text
International audienceA study of Λb0 baryon decays to the DpK- final state is presented based on a proton-proton collision data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9  fb-1 collected with the LHCb detector. Two Λb0 decays are considered, Λb0→DpK- with D→K-π+ and D→K+π-, where D represents a superposition of D0 and D¯0 states. The latter process is expected to be suppressed relative to the former, and is observed for the first time. The ratio of branching fractions of the two decays is measured, and the CP asymmetry of the suppressed mode, which is sensitive to the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa angle γ, is also reported

The nuclear modification factor of neutral pions is measured in proton-lead collisions collected at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon of 8.168.16 TeV with the LHCb detector. The π0\pi^0 production cross section is measured differentially in transverse momentum (pTp_{T}) for 1.5π0 production cross section is measured differentially in transverse momentum (pT) for 1.5<pT<10.0  GeV and in center-of-mass pseudorapidity (ηc.m.) regions 2.5<ηc.m.<3.5 (forward) and -4.0<ηc.m.<-3.0 (backward) defined relative to the proton beam direction. The forward measurement shows a sizable suppression of π0 production, while the backward measurement shows the first evidence of π0 enhancement in proton-lead collisions at the LHC. Together, these measurements provide precise constraints on models of nuclear structure and particle production in high-energy nuclear collisions. The nuclear modification factor of neutral pions is measured in proton-lead collisions collected at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon of 8.16~{\rm TeV}withtheLHCbdetector. The with the LHCb detector.
